What are you missing?

Over the last few weeks during the COVID-19 crisis, we have helped several businesses and individuals with various matters that suddenly needed attention. This involved dealing with numerous issues from updating business records to help with applications for the Payroll Protection Program, handle COVID-19 issues at their place of business, and helping individuals update their estate documents. Many discovered that their corporate documents were not updated and had to move quickly to get applications in for the PPP or other business needs. The same has applied for personal documents as many suddenly felt the need for their estate plans were not complete or caught up.

Maintaining legal health in check should not become a sudden need. Keeping your file cabinet current is a constant requirement that is always ongoing.
Many were involved in productive activities the last couple of years, and it became easy to ignore legal needs that were not pressing. Legal requirements include maintaining corporate records, knowing the details of contractual business relationships with vendors and customers, along with understanding insurance documents. Individuals have gone through these same issues trying to find their Wills, estate plans, powers of attorney and healthcare directives, and the like. We are slowly entering into a new normal for a while. No time is better to treat this as a year-end checkup or the beginning of a new year with new goals.

You need to know where all of your documents are and what they contain. This includes corporate records, financial records, contracts, insurance documents, along with personal estate plans. It is an excellent time to take inventory of all of these things, so the day-to-day operations of your business or your own life no longer interfere with keeping track of your records. Now is an excellent time to create your checklist and know what you have and may need. Every business and every individual will have a different list of what they need, whether it is simple corporate documents, financial records, a business plan, and contracts. This also includes your personal documents as well. While we slowly come back to life, now is the time to take inventory of what you have in your file cabinet.

Do you need to know what should be in your file cabinet? Call us, and we will be glad to help.

If you need help with these issues, feel free to contact us. If you just need someone to discuss your concerns. We are here for that as well.
